What Causes Jock Itch?

Jock itch is a fungal infection of the skin in the upper thighs and groin part. It is also known as tinea crurcis. Jock itch affects both men and women but as per the research it is men who are suffering more from Jock itch.
Main Causes of Jock itch

There are many causes of Jock itch. Some of them are listed below:-

• The main cause of Jock itch is a fungal infection that starts spreading through the skin area.
• It is also caused by a fungus called dermatophytes. These microorganisms grow in your skin and remain as long as your skin is moist. It can occur in those parts of the body that are moist and warm like the groin.
• You can suffer from Jock itch if your body’s immunity system gets weak.
• Jock itch is an infectious disease and it spreads from one person to the other. So avoid using dirty and infected towels, handkerchief, or clothes of anyone.
• It can even happen through sexual contacts with the person who is already suffering from Jock itch.
• People having diabetes are more prone to Jock itch.
• Those who wear tight clothes can also experience the disease so avoid doing that as tight clothes compress the body.
• If you already have fungal infection like athlete’s foot then it can also lead to Jock itch.

Hence we can say that the root cause of Jock itch is a fungal or yeast infection that grows slowly in the body.
